See a new side of Prague on this alternative guided walking tour: creep behind the Iron Curtain and discover what life was like in Communist Czechoslovakia.
Communist Prague Walking Tour
Find out about one of the darkest periods in history and explore Prague's most important sites in its recent history. We'll meet at Old Town Square, in the heart of the city's historic centre, to begin your journey through time.
As you walk through the city streets, you'll hear all about the different aspects of life in Communist Prague as you visit the buildings and monuments related to the communist period. Your guide will give you a balanced and unbiased view of the Czech capital's Soviet history. Learn how, despite restricted movement and lack of freedom of speech, there were many things that people liked about living "behind the Iron Curtain".
Discover how Communist rule came to an end in the country following the Prague Spring and the Soviets' subsequent invasion. You'll find it hard to imagine the hundreds of thousands of people who gathered here in 1989 to protest the Soviet regime in what came to be known as the Velvet Revolution.
Your guide will explain how the people of Prague feel about their Communist history, memories that are still fresh in the minds of many.
